Reptiles are found in a variety of habitats and all species are protected by law in the UK. Sand lizards and smooth snakes are also protected under EU law. If a development is thought to affect reptiles, we can carry out presence/likely absence surveys, and also provide species protection plans and mitigation measures for reptiles. Surveys are best carried out in April, May and September for reptiles.
