From the initial scoping process to plan approval, we produce long term plans (10 year approval) for woodlands and forests compliant with current UK Forest Standard. Plans include felling phases/years, proposed thinning works and restructuring proposals for the plan period with additional constraints and biodiversity information aimed towards sustainable forest management in line with UKWAS 4.
Our experienced team can conduct full/partial tariffs in order to estimate timber volumes for stand valuations or production forecasts. We also conduct inspection rack surveys of young crops to allow thinning programmes to be devised.
Information on protected species, archaeology and designated landscapes is collated in a report to aid in management decisions, forest design and risk assessments.
We can conduct surveys to ensure the successful establishment of young crops such as mortality assessments and herbivore impact assessments. We also carry out tree health surveys of crops for diseases such as Phytophthora ramorum, Dothistroma needle blight (Dothistroma septosporum) and ‘Chalara’ Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) with recommendations for management.
Protected species assessments of forests and woodland prior to operations identifying species such as Goshawks, Otters, Bats, Red Squirrels and Badgers.
We can provide on-site monitoring of harvesting and ground preparation contractors to ensure quality of work and compliance with health and safety as well as ensuring works adhere to current UK Forest Standard.
We can produce site specific risk assessments tailored to your needs, ranging from timber harvesting, ground preparation and tree planting to road construction.
